A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
Many years ago, I realized that it is not enough to say the right things, you must also say the right things the right way. Two people can present the same matter and get different results. There is such a thing as a word fitly spoken! God’s wisdom can help you say the right thing at the right time. Such statements are both spontaneous and powerful.
Paul in Acts 23:4-10 demonstrated this; he was put before a council that consisted of Pharisees and Sadducees. Pharisees believed in life after death but the sadducees didn’t. When Paul saw this, he said, “I am a Pharisee” Acts 23:6. The Holy Ghost inspired him to say so and immediately he did, both parties started doctrinal arguments and the multitude divided.
This was a fulfillment of what Christ said:
” But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost”
Whenever you find yourself in a tight situation, don’t rely on your mind to bring you out and don’t lie! Why lie? You have the Holy Ghost! He will, in the same hour, tell you what to do about the situation.
Do not just react to situations but rather respond spontaneously in love and wisdomas you are led by the Spirit of God.
